WHO WE ARE

WE ARE STEVE & PAM JAMES, TO THE WEST INDIES

For the last 20 years, we have been privileged to work among Spanish speaking people from all across the globe. This is our story.

STEVE'S TESTIMONY

I was raised in a religious home and very faithful in my attention to church. Though I was active in church, I had a knowledge about God, but realized that I did not know him and there was a great void in my life. Searching for answers, I began to read the Bible and listen to Christian radio. Providentially, at the same time, I started a new job, which unbeknownst to me, was a Christian owned business. Soon, I started sitting in on a Bible study on my lunch break. Then on July 27, 1987, I drove to work listening to a man give his testimony on the radio. I pulled into the parking lot broken and understanding my need for Jesus. I prayed and told the Lord that, “I have made a mess of my life, but if you can use it, my life is yours.” That morning I was born again into God's family and when my transformation and this wonderful journey began.

PAM'S TESTIMONY

I was saved at the age of twenty-seven in a Baptist Church. Although I had heard the gospel many times, it became clear to me that I had never made a personal decision. That night, I realized that my salvation was not dependent on anything that I had done or could do, but was totally dependent on what Christ had done for me on the cross. From that day forward, my faith was grounded, and I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt where I would spend my eternity.

OUR CALLING

Shortly after my salvation, I felt God calling me into full-time ministry. It was while in Bible college at our missions conference that God used a Hispanic pastor to burden my heart about serving Him in West Indies. Later that night, I went home and began to pray and read. At about 4:00 am, the Lord spoke to me through Job 22:29-30 which says,“When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.” The islands of the West Indies and the people are a people looking for hope. A hope, which I knew, could only be found in Jesus Christ. As I read these verses, God spoke to me about the West Indies.

OUR MINISTRY STORY

After finishing Bible college, deputation, and language school in Mexico, we moved our family the West Indies. Just eighteen short months after our arrival, we had to leave the place that we had grown to love. During our short time there, many had come to know Christ and were being discipled. I had been focusing much of my attention on training a 19 year old, young man. He and his wife had accepted Christ, been baptized, and he felt the call of God on his life to be a pastor. With broken hearts, we said our good-byes.

Upon returning to the States, we were blessed to continue to work full-time in church planting with Spanish speaking people. God led us to start, “La Iglesia Bautista Fuente de Vida" a ministry serving the Cincinnati area.

Then after more than 10 years without any communication, I received a series of emails. We began to email daily, and I began to pray that God would open up a door. Within three weeks, I was purchasing tickets to return.

When I stepped off the plane, heart racing, there to greet me were my dear friends. They showed me the work of the Lord had continued on. He had started 3 churches! I stood in amazement of all that God had done—and how He used someone as inadequate as us to have a small part.

Amazingly, God is opening the doors for us to serve once again there. We are praying that just as God started and has miraculously carried on His work that He will continue it by allowing ministry opportunities on the island.

Along with working in Latin America we are continuing to plant another Spanish speaking church in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. The United States is facing record numbers of Spanish speakers entering into the country and we believe that though they are coming for the pursuit of economic help God is in pursuit of them with Spiritual help of eternal life through His Son Jesus.

We are training each disciple and church plant with the vision to multiply. Our desire is to raise up disciples that make disciples that make disciples and churches that plant churches that plant churches. That everyone has the vision to multiply both individually and corporately.
